Down the Rabbit Hole

Down The Rabbit Hole is a three-day music festival that takes place annually in the summer at the De Groene Heuvels recreation area in Beuningen, Gelderland. Since its first edition in 2014, the festival has grown into a popular event with a capacity of approximately 45,000 visitors. Down The Rabbit Hole is known for its unique atmosphere that combines adventure, confusion, surrealism and psychedelia. The festival site is rich in forests, meadows and a lake, which makes for an enchanting environment. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as meditation sessions in the forest, swimming, campfires, hidden discos and a wide range of culinary options from all over the world.

The Nijmegen 4-day event

The Nijmegen Four Days Marches – officially the International Four Days Marches Nijmegen – is the largest walking event in the world and a unique experience that brings together tens of thousands of walkers and hundreds of thousands of spectators every year. The event traditionally takes place in July.

👣 What is the Four Days Marches?

For four days, participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers every day, depending on age and gender. The routes run through beautiful landscapes and charming villages around Nijmegen, including the Betuwe, the hills of Groesbeek, the forests of Mook and the bridges over the Waal and Maas.

🌍 International character

Every year, more than 45,000 walkers from more than 80 countries participate. In addition to individual participants, military groups also participate in uniform, which contributes to the international and impressive character of the event.

🎉 The Four Days Marches

At the same time as the marches, the Four Days Marches take place in the city: a free city festival with live music, street theatre, funfair, food trucks, dance parties and cultural activities spread throughout Nijmegen. With more than 1.5 million visitors annually, the festivities are an experience in themselves - even for those who do not walk.

🏁 The Via Gladiola

On the last day, the walkers walk along the famous Via Gladiola (St. Annastraat) towards the finish. Along the route, thousands of people cheer with music, flowers and gladioli - the symbol of victory. The atmosphere is festive and emotional; an unforgettable moment for the participants.

Cycling and walking routes along the Waalbandijk

From Ewijk you can make beautiful trips along the dike with a view of the floodplains and the river. Stop at small villages, orchards or terraces along the way.

Paviljoen het Buitenhuis

Pavilion Het Buitenhuis is a unique and atmospheric location on the water, located in the recreational area De Groene Heuvels in Ewijk, Gelderland. The pavilion offers a versatile setting for weddings, parties and other events, with a relaxed bohemian atmosphere and a beautiful view of the lake.

The pavilion is located directly on the water and has several terraces, some of which are covered and heated. The natural surroundings, with forests and the lake, provide a soothing and romantic ambiance. 

💍 Wedding location
Pavilion Het Buitenhuis is an official wedding location in the municipality of Beuningen. Ceremonies can take place under a centuries-old willow tree on the water or on a floating pontoon. After the ceremony, guests can enjoy a party on the attractively decorated terraces or indoor spaces, with room for live music and dancing.

The pavilion offers various culinary options, such as Italian tastings with pizzas from a wood-fired oven, vegetarian menus with a falafel bar and luxury barbecues. There is also room for external caterers or food trucks, depending on the wishes of the group.
